LEADERSHIP

Multicultural Conference Logic Model

Description:

In our Introduction to Nonprofit class, my cohort had the task of putting on IslandWood’s 4th Annual Multicultural Conference. While I had never put on a conference before, I volunteered for one of the first tasks to set the tone and expectations of the conference in the form of the logic model.

Analysis:

For the Logic Model, I  had to formulate the purpose, activities, outcomes, inputs, and other expectations for the conference, but I wanted to take this leadership role to insure equity in all decision-making.  I had to have my cohort members to agree with the terms in the logic model and I worked with a cohort member to develop the logic model. This logic model drove marketing and all of the outreach for the conference, including assessment of outcomes.

Reflection:

I understand that planning is essential in implementing programs and events. Equity and insuring of diversity and inclusivity does not happen organically. Having the ability to set the tone for the conference and plan the lenses from which we would operate had great influence in our conference sticking to having equity and inclusion as our frame of reference.   This also solidified my yearn and ability to be in a leadership position.
